The goal

Springy ankles. Strong hips. Legs that hold up on mile 30.

What you train

Strong up. Strong down.

Trail running asks your body to climb, brake, land and react, often all in the same mile. Every session trains for that.

  • i.

    Power and plyometrics

Hops, bounds and jumps that build a springier, more elastic stride.

  • ii.

    Climb and descent strength

Heavy, controlled work for the quads, glutes and calves, so the downhills don't wreck you.

  • iii.

    Feet, ankles and balance

Stability and reactive strength for roots, rocks and technical terrain.

  • iv.

    Engine work

Keep your heart rate up while you get stronger.

Who it's for

For runners with a goal on the calendar.

This is an intense class for experienced, goal-oriented and competitive runners. You already run consistently and are comfortable with strength training. Now you want to race better.

  • Trail, mountain and ultra runners
  • Road runners chasing a big race or a PR
  • Comfortable with jumping, lifting and hard efforts
  • Training with a goal and willing to work for it

New to strength training, or want an all-levels option? Try Endurance Strength on Thursday mornings.
