“If you are looking for expert advice that is collaborative, curious, and offers tools/guidance to help empower you to be and feel better – Sportslab is a brilliant. Matt and his staff are top shelf, and I simply wouldn’t want to see anyone other than them. Highly recommend.”

– Dominic M.

“Having been to over a dozen physical therapists in the past 15 years for a variety of joint related issues, Jake stands heads and shoulders above the rest. He has been instrumental in helping me recover from a variety of injuries as well as helping me resolve long running and recurring injuries to one of my knees.

I was thoroughly impressed with the people and the facilities at SportsLab. Will definitely be back.”

– Scott F.

“What a fantastic facility! I love the industrial vibe and so much natural light. Very nicely appointed. When it’s warm outside, SportsLab is adjacent to open park space (bonus).
The equipment is new and impressive. There’s plenty of space as a “waiting area” inside and just outside of the front door. And there are cubbies for storage during your therapy appointment.
The Team is super professional and approachable and know their shiz. :)”

– Leslie W.

Taylor Eckel, DPT, CSCS

Taylor is in network with Regence/BCBS, CareOregon, First Choice, Moda, United Healthcare/Optum Physical Health and Medicare.

Taylor’s approach centers on collaborating with the patient to address their unique needs, while maximizing their ability to continue in their sport. She utilizes objective tests to optimize exercise prescription throughout the rehab process. She has a special interest in managing athletic overuse injuries, as well as return to sport after shoulder surgery, achilles repair, and ACL reconstruction, and has contributed to a protocol for ACL rehab, authoring the portion on return to plyometrics and the incorporation of cognitive tasks alongside motor skills.

Taylor grew up in Maryland, playing soccer and basketball, and currently her primary sports are rock climbing (sport and trad) and snowboarding as well as split-boarding. She has experienced firsthand how injury can threaten personal identity, and is intentional to support patients through the mental and emotional challenges of rehab.

She has experience treating athletes across a variety of sports and levels, from NFL players and masters triathletes, to middle school athletes, weightlifters, and mountain athletes. In the summer of 2023 she had the unique opportunity to serve as the physical therapist for professional circus artists and dancers on a cruise ship in Greece!

Jake Stout, DPT, CSCS

In Network with Blue Cross Blue Shield (All plans Including Regence) First Choice, Moda, Care Oregon and Medicare. We are actively adding more plans to our network.

Through the highest quality of care, Jake Stout leverages his experience as an athlete, coach, educator and clinician to quickly return people to enjoying the activities they love.

In addition to the doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) degree he earned at the University of Washington in 2014, he received a Master’s degree (MS) from Boise State University in 2008 where he worked as a graduate assistant in the exercise physiology and biomechanics lab. He is a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and USATF certified distance running coach.

His other experiences include competing collegiately in track and cross country, teaching health education while living in India, working as a personal trainer in Seattle, and coaching cross country and track at the collegiate and high school levels. He continues to stay active running races when he can, and recently set a new marathon best of 2:25 in Berlin, Germany in 2023. When he’s outside the clinic, Jake enjoys life on the farm with his wife Christa – raising ducks, rabbits, and his daughters, Riley and Zoe.

Yuji Suzuki, DC, CSCS

As a chiropractor (DC) and strength/performance coach (NSCA-CSCS), Yuji’s mission is to provide the highest quality support for individuals navigating obstacles around movement. Whether you are dealing with nagging pains or persistent performance plateaus, he will collaborate with you to create a plan that you can feel confident about. He understands from personal experience how frustrating it is to be limited by injuries, and is passionate about helping people lead active and meaningful lives beyond pain.

He originally became interested in rehabilitation and strength & conditioning as a means to optimize his own performance as a multi-sport high school athlete. He was fortunate enough to pursue a baseball career in college at the NCAA Division II level and went on to pitch professionally at the independent-league level in Japan for a short period of time. He then returned to the US to extend his education and training, earning his chiropractic degree in 2021 from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Personally, he appreciates all forms of movement and embraces being a novice, which is reflected in his keen interest in motor learning and skill acquisition research. Currently, he is obsessed with learning to surf. In addition, he enjoys spending time with his wife Alyssa and their dog Koda, whether it’s exploring new restaurants and coffee shops, going on hikes, or sitting on the beach and reading.
